  • The young leaves of this plants was used to induce sleep for cramps or fevers.
  • Ashes of burnt leaves smeared over lesions for ‘ea and pa’ao’ao in children

Ways it was Used:

  • Equally used for fuel and construction.
  • Used to build war canoes, bark used for dying and tanning canoes, paddles, surfboards.
  • Traditionally used as bearing sticks, kahili handles, weapons and now they are made into furniture and bowls.
