Hoawa

Description: Leaves can be as long as four to ten inches and one to two point five inches wide with fruits that are two to three inches long. Stems are woody and leaves are a glossy green color.

Lāʻau lapaʻau(Medicinal Use):

  • Used for a swollen neck and other similar illnesses when taking the inner flesh of the ho’awa fruit and mixing it with dried kukui nuts, leaves, and roots of kupukupu hohonu and finally to add to this mix, ‘okolehao.

Ways it was Used:

  • The wood from this plant was good for fuel, canoe parts, fruits used as medicine.
