  • For treatment of nasal growth, combine ki with rhizomes of ‘olena and ‘awapuhi lei and powered ‘iliahi and naio and taken internally with a food substance like poi. To treat shortness of breath/asthma, ki flowers and leaf buds are mixed with ‘uhaloa root bark, ‘ala’ala wai nui pehu, noni fruit, ‘uala huamoa, and ko kea . Ki can remedy a lot of things, you just need to know what other plant to mix ki with.

Ways it was Used:

  • Ki is also used a lot culturally. They can be used as food wrappers for imu (underground oven) and footwear. The sweet roots baked as a treat for famine food. There were also light alcohol beverages made from ki.
