The Koolau Mountains Watershed Partnership (KMWP) is a voluntary alliance of major public and private landowners committed to the protection of the native Hawaiian forests of the Koolau Mountains. These landowners recognized the importance of these forest ecosystems for their ability to replenish the underground aquifers which provide the majority of the fresh water used on Oahu—approximately 133 billion gallons each year. KMWP works across landowner boundaries to eliminate threats to the watershed such as habitat-modifying weeds and ungulates using a combination of adaptive management strategies and established conservation practices.

Sustainable Coastlines Hawai'i

Email: info@sustainablecoastlineshawaii.org

SUSTAINABLE COASTLINES HAWAI‘I STARTED IN 2010 WITH 8 FRIENDS SITTING AROUND A TABLE IN A SMALL HOUSE IN KAIMUKI. Inspired by our good friends Sustainable Coastlines in New Zealand, we decided to take keeping our beaches clean into our own hands while making the work fun. What we’ve learned along the way is that cleanups can only do so much. We now utilize our cleanups to inspire better consumer behaviors and continued coastal stewardship through cleanups, education, social media, and more. We are run by a small full time staff and a large team of dedicated volunteers.

We have a variety of volunteer and intern opportunities available to support our programs such as Beach Cleanups, Communications, Education, and SustainEvents.
